What is National Parent’s Day? How To Celebrate #ParentsDay

Honoring Everyone’s Parents This July 24th.

This upcoming Parent’s Day, which falls on the fourth Sunday in July, is a wonderful day to honor the special people in our lives. The idea is to add an extra day, beyond Mother’s and Father’s Day to cerebrate parents.

Let’s take this holiday to look back on our lineage and roots, and to ask our parents about their lives and memories from growing up.

Many ScanMyPhotos customers do this after they’ve sent their old photos to us. They’ll then walk their parents through the digital copies and ask them questions about the past. Find those boxes of old photos in the attic to do the same this Parent’s Day. Together, we can ensure our parent’s lives and history are preserved for generations to come. Follow our Tales From the Pictures We Saved podcast for emotional, real stories from families who shared stories about their parents.

We encourage everyone to share #ParentsDay on social media.

Why ScanMyPhotos Customers Will Benefit from Pinterest’s Camera-Search Tech

Pinterest camera-search tech“Where did you get that?!” is a common phrase we can hear from friends, relatives, acquaintances—anyone—who spot something of ours they absolutely need to have. The item could be a throw pillow, pair of shoes, or a handcrafted cabinet—it doesn’t matter. What matters is we are constantly on the lookout for things we like. And when we see something we fall in love with, we need to know where we can get one too.

This is the basic principle behind Pinterest—a social media platform where users pin and share images of the things they like. From recipes to home décor, it’s hard to sign into Pinterest without seeing something you absolutely must have (we dare you to try scrolling through a food board when you’re hungry!).

Good thing the team at Pinterest knows this. This is why they’re working on Pinterest’s camera-search tech that will help connect people with the things they love.

How Pinterest’s camera-search tech works

While we still have a few months until this new technology hits the social media platform, here’s what we have to look forward to:

ScanMyPhoto’s Customer Helps Grandparents Connect with Grandkids via Technology

grandparents connectThese days, it seems like the only people who understand technology are those born with an iPad in their hands. For the rest of us, the rapidly advancing tech can be a challenge to get a handle on. This is why ScanMyPhoto’s customer and proud grandfather Peter Farnsworth has made it his personal mission to use technology to connect with younger generations—specifically, the grandkids.

“When I became a grandparent I decided it would be a good time to transfer my knowledge to my grandchildren.” Peter explained. “I realized there is no shoe box in the attic for these kids, no sets of letters from grandma and grandpa. So, I wanted to use other things to develop a 1-1 relationship with each grandchild. I decided to create a blog for each grandchild stocked with the stories and photos I’ve amassed throughout my lifetime.”

As Peter started his 1-1 project, he realized others could benefit from the cool technology he uncovered during his research. The result is his novel: The New Grandparent’s Guide to Technology.
