A very personal story: Since the ’70s, I’ve been glued to The Today Show, dreaming of the day they’d feature me. Thanks to tech guru Jennifer Jolly, that dream came true. She invited me to the show as her guest to watch, and she introduced ScanMyPhotos, the company my buddy Carl and I started in the ’90s.

Since the dawn of the 1970s, when the television screen flickered to life with the familiar faces of Tom Brokaw and Jane Pauley gracing The Today Show, my heart became tethered to a dream. A dream that whispered its enchanting promises each morning as I tuned in faithfully, absorbing the essence of the show’s allure. To be profiled on that top-rated morning TV show, seen by millions, and bask in the spotlight cast by its illustrious hosts became the beacon that guided my aspirations through the years.
And then, as if by the tender hand of fate, the moment unfolded in a symphony of serendipity. Tech luminary Jennifer Jolly, weaving her magic amidst a segment on technological photo marvels.
I stepped onto the hallowed grounds of the Today set, my heart aflutter with anticipation. Beside me stood my steadfast business partner in this journey, Carl, the other architect of our shared vision.
And there, amidst the glow of studio lights and the hum of whispered anticipation, our story unfurled. A personal story: what it was like walking onto the iconic set of The Today Show
Stepping onto the set of the Today Show’s 3rd Hour as a guest of tech guru Jennifer Jolly was like embarking on a dream of a lifetime adventure.
The live news show’s atmosphere buzzed with excitement, akin to being whisked away on a magic carpet ride through the world of live television. Every corner of the famous Studio 1A set was adorned with the sparkle of anticipation as if each moment held the promise of a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered.
Behind the scenes are the backs of TV monitors, tech equipment, and what you’d expect to see in a techie’s garage. What you see on camera is bright lights and familiar staging.
Amidst the flurry of activity, what struck me the most was the serene calmness that enveloped everyone behind the scenes. From the nimble camera operators constantly moving around to the meticulous makeup artists, each exuded a tranquil confidence, as if they were seasoned sailors who easily navigated the choppy seas of live broadcasting.
The camaraderie among the crew and hosts was palpable, a harmonious symphony of skilled professionalism and genuine companionship. Witnessing how seamlessly everyone worked together, lending a helping hand, and sharing friendly banter amidst the whirlwind of preparations was a sight to behold.
But amidst the glitz and glamour, the unsung heroes like the talent coordinators and segment producers truly shone brightest. Though their names aren’t in the limelight, their meticulous attention to detail and tireless dedication ensured that every moment on screen was polished to perfection.
And oh, the friendliness! It was as if I had stepped into a gathering of old friends, where smiles were as abundant as the bustling energy that filled the studio. From the infectious enthusiasm of the hosts to the warm greetings exchanged between takes, it was clear that the spirit of camaraderie was the glue that held this tight-knit team together.
