For the Photography Enthusiast, It’s the George Eastman Museum

Since I was a little boy, I have been an avid fan of the George Eastman Museum in Rochester, New York. Now that I’m grown up, I have had a chance to visit it a few times and especially liked the film exhibit and history of KODAK.

As a young boy, I never would have imagined the rich history behind the museum, or what it meant to be such an important part of the history of photography.

From the Museum’s website:

At all times, at least three temporary exhibitions on photography and cinema—most of which change about every four months—in the main exhibition galleries, the Project Gallery for contemporary works, the Collection Gallery, and on the second floor of the mansion.

George Eastman’s historic mansion and gardens, where one can see how this visionary entrepreneur and philanthropist lived for almost thirty years during the early twentieth century—one of only two National Historic Landmarks in Monroe County.

As a research and teaching institution, the Eastman Museum has an active publishing program and makes critical contributions in the fields of film preservation and photographic conservation.
