For the Photography Enthusiast, It’s the George Eastman Museum

Since I was a little boy, I have been an avid fan of the George Eastman Museum in Rochester, New York. Now that Iโ€™m grown up, I have had a chance to visit it a few times and especially liked the film exhibit and history of KODAK.

As a young boy, I never would have imagined the rich history behind the museum, or what it meant to be such an important part of the history of photography.

From the Museum’s website:

At all times, at least three temporary exhibitions on photography and cinemaโ€”most of which change about every four monthsโ€”in the main exhibition galleries, the Project Gallery for contemporary works, the Collection Gallery, and on the second floor of the mansion.

George Eastmanโ€™s historic mansion and gardens, where one can see how this visionary entrepreneur and philanthropist lived for almost thirty years during the early twentieth centuryโ€”one of only two National Historic Landmarks in Monroe County.

As a research and teaching institution, the Eastman Museum has an active publishing program and makes critical contributions in the fields of film preservation and photographic conservation.
