120 MM Negative Scanning

Medium format has traditionally referred to a film format in still photography and the related cameras and equipment that use this film. Generally, the term applies to film and cameras used to produce images larger than the 24 by 36 mm of 135 film, but smaller than the 4"x5" size, which is considered to be large format. While at one time or another a variety of medium format film sizes were produced, today the vast majority of medium format film is produced in the 6 cm 120 and 220 sizes. Other sizes are mainly produced for use in antique cameras, and many people assume 120/220 film when the term medium format is used.

We can hand scan single cut or strip cut medium format either in negative or transparency format. Pricing for single cut or cut rolls is noted below and is charged per frame scanned. As with standard 35mm negatives and slides, all scans are processed with Digital ICE to color correct and remove dust and scratches that may be present. Standard scanning of medium format is done at 1000 DPI. High-resolution scans are scanned at 2000 DPI at a higher cost. Due to medium format's larger size, we can scan them at a lower resolution resulting in high quality scans when compared to standard 35mm.

6x4.5, 6x6, 6x7, 6x8, or 6x9 format only.

Packing Instructions: If your medium format negatives/transparencies in sleeves, please leave them in the sleeves. This helps protect your negatives/transparencies from damage from shipping. If they are not in sleeves, we recommend placing them in a standard envelope to help keep them protected during transit. DO NOT FOLD YOUR NEGATIVES OR TRANSPARENCIES. This will render them unscannable.
