ScanMyPhotos to offer photo scanning services at Irvine Family Fun Fair

Safety, health, wellness and having fun will be the focus of the Irvine Family Fun Fair held on Saturday, April 29, in Irvine, Calif., USA. More than 60 community partners from the Irvine Prevention Coalition will display and hold interactive demonstrations to build awareness of various safety, emergency and environmental services available in the greater Irvine area.

“As we have recently witnessed, mudslides, fires and hurricanes know no limits in handing out destruction. When a natural disaster hits, experts will tell you that people immediately think of three entities to save — people, pets and pictures. To pictures, I would add saving valuable documents, such as a birth certificates and deeds,” said Debra Bianchi, executive director of Irvine Community Drug Prevention and chairperson of this year’s fair.

Mitch Goldstone, owner of 30 Minute Photos Etc. of Irvine, is offering a disaster proofing service for those priceless pictures and critical papers. People can bring in their pictures and documents to the booth where Goldstone will digitally scan up to 50 images — photos and/or documents — onto a CD for $5. Goldstone is donating the proceeds to the fair.

“We’re happy to offer this service. Just think of the disaster recovery efforts still going on in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina,” Goldstone said. “Thousands of shoeboxes full of pictures were lost.”

Goldstone has offered the scanning service since last November. He uses a Kodak i660 Scanner to capture the pictures and turn them into digital files. The high-speed, production document scanner can capture up to 480 images per minute.
