ScanMyPhoto’s Customer Helps Grandparents Connect with Grandkids via Technology

grandparents connectThese days, it seems like the only people who understand technology are those born with an iPad in their hands. For the rest of us, the rapidly advancing tech can be a challenge to get a handle on. This is why ScanMyPhoto’s customer and proud grandfather Peter Farnsworth has made it his personal mission to use technology to connect with younger generations—specifically, the grandkids.

“When I became a grandparent I decided it would be a good time to transfer my knowledge to my grandchildren.” Peter explained. “I realized there is no shoe box in the attic for these kids, no sets of letters from grandma and grandpa. So, I wanted to use other things to develop a 1-1 relationship with each grandchild. I decided to create a blog for each grandchild stocked with the stories and photos I’ve amassed throughout my lifetime.”

As Peter started his 1-1 project, he realized others could benefit from the cool technology he uncovered during his research. The result is his novel: The New Grandparent’s Guide to Technology.

Why You Need to Digitize Photos and Preserve Them for Future Generations

digitize photosWhy and How to Digitize Photos For Future Generations. It’s This Easy

As technology continues to advance, the way in which we preserve our history is also changing. From cave drawings to oil paintings and from print photos to Snapchat selfies, it’s important for us to now digitize photos in order to keep them safe for future generations.

But if you need a few reasons why it’s important to digitize photos before it’s too late, then consider the following:

Print photos will eventually succumb to the elements

Unless you have your print photos stored in acid-free, archival-quality storage containers and kept in a temperature-controlled room away from sunlight, then your photos are at risk of getting destroyed by the elements. Of course, we definitely recommend doing everything you can to keep your print photos safe, but digitizing them is the only way to truly protect them from the elements.

Tales From The Pictures We Saved – Episode 12: Connecting Past and Present

pastWelcome to this week’s episode of Tales From the Pictures We Saved.

We’ve spent the past 27 years helping our customers preserve tens of millions of happy memories, milestones, achievements, and events—all of which have incredible stories behind each and every photo.

And now we’re eager to share these stories with you.

In this week’s episode, ScanMyPhotos customer Max Branscomb, explains how he used photos (36 albums, 5,300 pictures) show his friends the beautiful connection he had, and always will have, with his late wife.

Preview: We are all made up of moments. Our first steps, first words, first kiss—over time these moments accumulate like snowfall and shape our present reality. But, on the outside, no one else can see these moments and it can sometimes be hard for others to understand why we do the things we do or make the choices we make. This is where photos can help us share the moments that make up who we are.

Do you have a photo story to share?

Contact us today and your tale could be featured on an upcoming episode!

This episode features music by Bensound.com. Max was voiced by voice over actor Timothy Callaway.
